Dear Families,

In light of current events, Hanover County Public Schools is gathering a collection of educational resources compiled by curriculum specialists, teachers, and administrators to support student learning during our extended closure. We recognize that learning from home presents many challenges, but also some wonderful opportunities to share learning as a family. Below you will find specific guidance and information about accessing these resources. In addition to tapping into these resources, we strongly encourage students at all levels to engage in reading - books, magazines, digital materials, or anything else around the home.

Paper Packets

We understand that not all areas of Hanover have access to high-speed internet and that not all families subscribe to an internet service provider. Please understand that division resources are limited right now, and only families that cannot access resources through the internet should plan to pick-up paper packets. Copies of the resources developed by the division can be picked up at your student’s school. All schools will have the following pick-up hours:

  • Wednesday, March 18: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 19: 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Please note that school offices will not be open for other public business, only instructional packet pick-up.

Parents

Please help your students locate the materials for their grade level or classes. The materials provided do not equate to full days of instruction but are designed to reinforce skills and content during the school closure period. A cover sheet with instructions and learning goals can be found in each resource folder to better assist you in guiding your students through the materials.

Students

Do your best to complete the activities and keep record of your completed work in one place to bring in when schools reopen. If you have questions about the work, you can reach out to your teacher via email or Schoology messaging. Teachers will be happy to help.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our efforts to help keep our students connected to our programs, healthy and safe. We will continue to provide updates as needed.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Gill
Superintendent of Schools
