students

HEF enhances the quality of education in Hanover County by supporting students and educators. Funds raised are given back through many programs.

Supporting Students

Scholarships help our students to pursue training and educational opportunities beyond high school. Private donors enable funding through endowed and annual gifts. To obtain a scholarship application, please contact the student's career counselor. This past spring, over $201,000 was awarded!

Encouraging Teachers and Staff

Professional development grants provide opportunities for teachers to expand their knowledge and skills, which they can transfer to the classroom.

Applications for the SDR professional development fund and SFW Award for Continuous Improvement in Teaching are open through November 14!

  • The SDR professional development fund will award up to $1,000 for professional and support employees to receive quality training.
  • The SFW Award for Continuous Improvement in Teaching will award up to $500 to a teacher for professional development.

HCPS staff can apply for either award using the secure HCPS Google drive.

General Grant Request

HEF receives unsolicited funding requests, designated as general grants, from groups or individuals on a continual basis. Requests submitted by educators or administrators must meet eligibility and criteria guidelines.

Mike Fehl Special Education Grant

Special education grants are awarded in memory of Mike Fehl. The grant is awarded to encourage, stimulate, and enhance creativity in effective instruction in the area of special education and are reserved for the teachers of children with special needs.
