Inclement Weather Update: Jan. 12, 2025

Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are warm and well. Our team has been carefully monitoring road and weather conditions this weekend following the snow on Friday night and Saturday morning, as well as the welcomed news that the boil water advisory has ended.
As a precaution and to allow our entire team sufficient time to help ensure our schools are ready to welcome our students following both the inclement weather and last week’s water outage,
HCPS will be opening on a two-hour delay for students only on Monday, January 13. All HCPS staff are to report on time.
This two-hour delay is intended to allow our staff time to ensure sidewalks and parking lots are clear, faucets are properly flushed, our buses are ready for use in the morning, and for temperatures to rise above freezing. We do not plan to have any additional delays tomorrow and look forward to welcoming our students back to school.
We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff.
Please be reminded that it will be a B day for our middle and high schools. As
we shared on Friday, we will be making adjustments to the end of the first semester/start of the second semester schedule. Further details will be shared tomorrow regarding the semester switch.
Thank you again for your patience, understanding, and support.
Stay safe and warm,
Hanover County Public Schools
